I know it's Capcom we're talking about, but this really makes me sad.

Even my X figure next to me is sad.

That is a shop, yes.

The game does have a cash shop with those items though.

This is bad for the industry and It will sour a young gamers experience. They will just pay to win and or be baned from games after thier parents find out. This is like the Chernobyl of video games

Prett much the only good thing coming out of Capcpom these days is Monster Hunter.

And MH nowadays is pretty much their biggest source of income, thanks to it's huge popularity in Japan. They won't fuck it up. Probably.

They make some shitty ass decisions though.

>We've come to the conclusion that most Resident Evil fans are 30-40 years old
>That market is apparently unstable, and old people don't play video games, so we're now targetting kids and teenagers

Literally the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Yeah, kids that are easily swayed will surely make for a dedicated fanbase. And the way they said it was basically a step above "Fuck the old fans, we want new people now".

Because I guess there's some sort of metric that says people magically stop playing video games after they reach a certain age. Even though video games have not been around that long, and most people that have grown up with games are in their late 20's to 30's.

It's sad that micro-purchases are the standard order of business now. Instead of teaching people to earn upgrades and unlockables through gameplay, they're teaching young people to just buy their way out of everything.

Don't forget the Ace Attorney series. It's not as profitable but they're still good games.

And at the very least that DLC case was very good.

How did you feel about RE5? Did you think it was aimed for the 30-40 y/o audience, or exclusively for younger people?

This decision was made fairly recently.

I think RE5 was made, like so many other games, to appeal to as many people as possible. And it got watered down in the process. Tries to be survival horror, and tries to be third person shooter, and ends up not doing either one particularly well. And no it's completely removed any survival horror elements.

Honestly, I think that decision was made because younger people unfamiliar with the franchise won't know any better. They won't know that it went from this amazing survival horror game to a generic shooter. So they're fine with it.

The old fans want RE to stay survival horror, and Capcom is like fuck you.

>Capcom, make Megaman games
>Fuck you
>Capcom, make Resident Evil good again
>Fuck you
>Capcom, make fighting games other than Street Fighter and MvC
>Fuck you
>Capcom, bring back old franchises
>Fuck you
>Capcom, make a new DMC
>FUCK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Never have I seen a developer so actively refuse to listen to their fans.

Yes, I agree with what you're saying. Although some elements of RE5 were good (being able to select from several character and storyline options) I never felt the same immersion I did when playing earlier games. There wasn't the same sense of panic during the difficult stages either. The weapon selection system was the worst part for me, I hate how they did away with pause menu selection all together like that.

Unfortunately you're right; Capcom is trying to imitate the AAA generic titles more and more to grab the attention of younger fans, while ignoring the requests of older players.

Man, remember when games came out complete instead of charging you up the ass to get the full experience, or cheat?

I sure miss the days where to find everything you needed skill (and schoolyard rumors, such the Hadoken) to find everything.
