Thought some things up last night, but this was before I saw the updated Pastebin, so excuse any inconsistencies:
>The salon with the nine signs at the beginning is the main menu with each sign being an option
>Either use tanning beds or "appeal to a beautiful older sister-style girl and get her phone number soon" (they call you to meet them at wherever they stand) as save points
>If the latter, tanning beds might serve as full-health stations
>As your Galo takes damage, the art style (possibly just his own body if not the whole atmosphere/mobs) deteriorates, being well-animated at full health and the crude line drawings you see at some points when almost dead
>Ganguro women will appear in levels in addition to enemies, and you must grab and kiss them to perhaps fill the special gauge (one line mentions "growing more easily when someone praises us" though that could also be worked into something else)
>Many objects and aspects of the environment can be "sengened" (declared) with the Galo Shot and shot again to revert, things may happen with environmental change I.E. a sengened escalator may speed up to disrupt enemies or doors may open/close if sengened/normal

I've got some ideas to build on this. After the first stage, Galo-kun is sent flying out of the prison for a dramatic escape. The next level begins with him using a scrap of debris as a board, falling onto the street like the beginning of City Escape. He then has to skate through the city, punching enemies and escaping the cops. In the first checkpoint, a brief cutscene shows him skating through a clothing store and bursting out the other side with sunglasses, and for the level goal, the board hits the sidewalk, catapulting him into a tanning parlor. He lands in the tanning bed, and the tanning bed opens with him fully Galo'd (ending the level).

Eh, I don't think would transition well when working out the animations of the characters. I dunno. I think that the best way to make both meme-wanters and meme-naysayers happy would be to have the various memes as background cameos. Like in the City Escape-homage level, you could skate past a cafe and see Gabe Newell inside drinking a coffee or ten. A kid on the sidewalk could be holding a Sanic doll. Costanza could be on a billboard advertisement. You get the picture. That way, it gives people things to look for, doesn't let memes overtake the game, and enriches the level designs a bit.

Guys. GUYS. Listen. I have a few ideas to help this actually become a reality.

-Don't let it get two ambitious. I think five stages is a good goal to aim for (prison break/City Escape homage, streets, alleyways, disco, final level?).
-Make sure we actually have competent programmers and spriters. With the Policeman album and those remixes, we seem to be good on the soundtrack front.
-Stick to a simple artstyle. I propose 16-bit characters, with either 16-bit or hand-drawn backgrounds.
-Somebody save the ideas in this thread. There have been some great ones.

The most hilarious part of that is that Broquest didn't even start from /v/.

well, simple coding tools aren't a bad idea. C takes a lot of effort just to make a simple game. Even with SDL. We are aiming at a simple game, so yes, I'm with you guys.

I never did anything on flash or gamemaker but I guess they are somewhat noob friendly, so yeah, if you guys come up with something solid I'll be glad to make some scripting (if I learn flash, etc)

A few ideas off the top of my head:
the health meter should be an energy drink that gets more crumpled as it gets depleted. Or it could just get more empty. health powerups would be cans of said energydrink. Call it Gal-O fuel or something.
There should be a guy you run into where you get to play a game of chance picking the right card like in the video.
rhythm-based DJ'ing minigame.
Main character can call in other members of his Galo-fied family for help. Other characters have assists as well that can only be used a certain number of times like back in MvC.
When you obtain lime and a shitake mushroom, you can play a very risky minigame where you have to squirt the juice from the lime on the mushroom without getting any of it in your eyes. Success will create one of the best consumables in the game. Failure will give you limited vision and damage every few seconds as well as your controls being reversed. You can only heal this with another rare consumable (probably eye drops or something)
