ITT: Brawl theories.

I personally think it's all the work of some boy. He gather the trophies (or rather, figures) of his favorite heroes and makes a tourney, simple enough. Hell, I used to do that when I was a kid (although they were DBZ action figures...), it's simple enough. He then plays the final boss role (Master Hand), etc.

LimeInCoconut posted a quite interesting theory on the GameFAQs Message Board regarding creative spirits and what-not, and I kinda like it, but, as previously stated, I prefer to keep it simple.

What about you, /v/?

>> Zero Shift !2bqYGieguE 03/18/08(Tue)03:20 No.12310500
dad is tabuu, kid is master hand

His father got the kid toys, which one day he somehow brought to life and made them start fighting each other.

Everyso often on of the toys would attack him though, and he would get hurt.

This led to him making his toys more powerful to stop the attacking toys.

The kid developed problems from this, thus Crazy Hand came into the picture, a representation of all of the kid's built up frustration.

This is where his father find out he's been doing all this shit, put him on medicine, and trys to get the toys killed off with tar made from copying one of them.

That doesn't work, the kid get's pissed once he figures out what's going on, attacks daddy with only regular Master as he is still under the affects of the drug, sealing Crazy away. Father kills/stops him.

Toys realize that there's something twistedly wrong with this guy, but father uses some hi-tech thing to finally kill them all.

Dedede's timed badges counteracted this effect, some toys came back while father was trying to stop all this shit by destroying the places where the toy's got their life from, their co-joined worlds.

They all get back up and finally stop fighting to bring down the father.

Tabuu could also be the family psychiatrist, the kid got old and still obsessed (even more obsessed) with his toys and playing with them, and the psychiatrist is trying to stop it. It's possible the kid is obsessed with not just toys and playing with them, but NINTENDO toys (and Nintendo in general). The psychiatrist's first step to helping the boy is introducing toys that aren't Nintendo characters, so he brings in Snake and Sonic toys for the boy to play with, this helps with the boy's Nintendo obsession, not much, but a start.

So, pretty much what we have gathered is that an older person is trying to make this kid stop playing with his toys. That he is trying to hold onto his youth.

It isn't something deep like a mental disorder. Kids always want to have a huge adventure with their favorite characters. I am sure you faggots have thought if this character and this character fought. It has been posted since the beginning and talked about since the beginning of history. If there are two people in a story or in real life that fight, you compare them.

tl;dr Pretty much, this kids just wants to play out if they fought. The 'adult' wants him to finally put away his toys.

My take (which I think isn't uncommon with other people)

Master Hand- The hand with which the kid plays. Picking up his figurines and making them go "pew pew" and "pching pching"

Crazy Hand - The hand with which the kid becomes destructive. The hand where he intends to destroy his toys or emulate wild battles

Tabuu- The idea personification of adulthood. It's taking everything away, killing the creative idea of having the figurines fight. Either it's his dad saying "Play time is over. Put your toys away." or the child has grown and said "I'm too old for this. I can't keep wasting time with toys."

The wireframes and alloys are old dolls and trophies that have been broken or have had their paint chipped off. They're used for generic bad guys whenever it's needed, and that's why they're always remniscient of other fighters (except in Melee, where the kid used his sister's dolls. Another theory about the hands.

Remember when you were a kid, you would invite your friends over to play around. Like, little little. You would first play lightly, just playing each other from one side to another. Laughs were had. But there was always that one faggot that was WAY too rough with the god damn toys and would slam it everywhere.

The only thing we see in SSB was the boy throwing the Trophy. Could I put that there was a second person there at the opposite side. He was using his left hand cause that is the easiest to counter act a right hander in 'Knocking them out' to the other side.

I push that crazy hand is that dick that took it one step too far.

Taking into consideration, I am thinking the kid is about 13 or 14(?) by SSB:B. He is playing JRPGs and games like Metal Gear Solid and getting into more nostalgic crap like Kid Icarus. Game and Watch from Melee could have been easily be the kid just seeing the game somewhere.

>> Anonymous 03/18/08(Tue)04:07 No.12311490
Here's a better idea than imbuing bizarre mental illnesses or multiple characters into the back story of Smash Bros/Brawl.

The original game was obviously hands of someone playing in a room with figures. Canonical.

Melee introduces more characters, modes, areas, and bosses. This is just the "game" the child plays progressing into something more elaborate, like when you would pretend toys that weren't really part of something still were. (Giga Bowser is like when you used a foot tall t-rex toy to battle Batman.) The reason we no longer see the toy box and other elements is because they're redundant, and the kid's imagination has created new settings so he's no longer thinking about being in his room.

Part three, with the Subspace Emissary, well this is just our player writing his first "story" with the characters rather than just endless action. I'm sure some of you did this with your toys. And not only did some of you treat yourself as a character in these stories, but you would introduce new characters that might even "trump" you for story purposes ("Sorry guys, you're on your own, this AWESOME villain I made up is too much for me.")

Alternately, Subspace is an alternate reality that hijacks a child's imaginative game. Or, it could be a dream he has wherein he loses control of his game and it takes on a new spin with its own story.

Don't overthink things, though that feels ironic coming from me. I think my theory is the simplest jump forward from the original game.

Melee -
Adventure: For adventure mode, the kids, "Well, fuck, what would 'link' do if he were in Super Mario or Metroid?"

Classic: Fucking around

Challenges: Well, if we put him up against this and these things. Maybe he would have a harder time. How would he react to this?"

There's always the chance that Nintendo doesn't make video games in this reality. Perhaps in this world, they simply have an extremely lucrative toy line. Any similarities in worlds between the two could be explained with the inevitable Saturday Morning Cartoons that would result.
Mario's was basically just like his games in this world, and the same with Samus. Pokemon was like our cartoon since nothing conflicts there, but Link's got canceled before it ended. Because of this, the kid never really figured out what Ganondorf could do... he was never revealed, so how could he? The child figured he had to be really powerful, so he gave him the best moves he knew; Captain Falcon's.
