Alicorn Twilight to me feels about as contrived as that elements of harmony bullshit. As long as it doesn't become a permanent thing to the point where every episode revolves around it, I don't really mind.

Hasbro realized they've struck gold with MLP:FiM, and it seems extremely unlikely that they would kill the chicken that lays golden eggs. The writers were given complete freedom, and they diconnected the whole show from their toy pipeline.

Even if Twilight becomes an alicorn, that's something fans have been speculating would happen since season one. It's not an asspull from out of nowhere it's a natural progression of her status. She's Celestia's "faithful student," which means she must be studying for something.

There are far worse things that could happen to the show. Although I'm dubious about this being real, I'm not going to overreact. S3 has been good so far in terms of episodes (i.e. plots, songs, and the "extra" stuff.) so I really don't see the need to complain. Ultimately, this is just business and as long as they don't cancel the show, radically change the format or change the VAs, I'm going to be ok with most other things.

Normally it might have, since it use to go Toy -> Show. Now it's the other way, Show -> Toy. Allows the two departments to do what they want because they realize that the show is popular enough that they don't have to plug toys into the show to sell them.
