if you believe in the hypercrisis. . .
your dreams can come true!

also right before the reboot superman renounced his us citizen ship, dont know if thats still a thing or not, so superman probably doesnt really like to vote, he probably figures hes doing his duty as an american anyway.

Any good superhero would vote republican. Liberals wouldn't fight for the common good since they don't believe good and evil exists and that people who commit crimes are just poor disenfranchised people and the true bad guys are the successful people who abide the laws and thus exploit poor people.

You can actually renounce your citizenship anytime you'd like.

Of course you'd have to move out of the country because you now have no rights.

Probably a good idea to find a place that will allow you residency as soon as you arrive too.

All in all, it's a huge planned out process. Unless you're a superhero with a fortress of solitude in...I'd like to say Canada? Is the artic circle in Canada?

Let's be honest though, as much as I love cape comics they've been pushing this ridiculously backwards neoliberal agenda since ever. If superheroes were actually concerned with issues like mass injustice and genocide the last thing they would probably do is be ass puppets for the US government as they seem all too happy to do. Literally this is the plot of like every superhero film.

>X-Men
Opens by introducing us to a conflict between the US government and mutants. Great, an opportunity to examine the marginalization of minorities by the status quo! NAH FUCK THAT. Let's have the mutants team up with the government to take out the evil extremist mutant faction! Yay establishment!

>Iron Man
After being kidnapped, Tony Stark realizes the shocking truth that the flawed capitalist system has allowed his weapons to end up in the wrong hands. It's time to come home and reform the economic system to make sure this never happens again. WAIT HOW ABOUT BUILD A MOTHERFUCKING SUIT THAT SHOOTS ROCKETS AT TERRORISTS. AMERICA

>The Dark Knight Rises
Christopher Nolan bravely calls our attention to the growing inequality in America. As a champion of justice Batman will team up with the oppressed to bring or-OCCUPY WALL STREET = TERRORISTS.

That's not how that works.

If you renounce it in another country, you're not going to come back without a visa and a passport and you need to do it to a representative to the US Government, if you renounce it in the US, someone will just laugh at you. No one is gonna come to your house and say "Hey buddy, you just left club America, get your shit and get out." America isn't going to put your shit on the curve and tell you to leave.

Also, all US laws apply to anyone within the US border regardless of citizenship unless they are specifically a representative of a foreign government just like any other country in the world, you can just renounce your citizenship then go on a killer rampage and say "Oh well, can't touch me."

Mutants take out extremist mutant faction to prevent escalation of pre-existing conflict. X2 has them teaming up with the extremist mutant faction to stop the government. X3 has them work alongside the government to stop the extremist mutant faction.

>Iron Man
Out of the host of troubling political implications seen in the IM films, economic reform was never brought up, much less him being a stooge for the US government. Did you even watch IM2?

>The Dark Knight Rises
Is literally about a group of terrorists and criminals allying themselves with violent criminals to terrorize a population while claiming equality and wealth redistribution. Figuratively, it's about communism in practice.

I vote for this reason but don't vote in every race. It's dumb ass people (any persuasion/party) who would every time - I vote when I feel confident I know why/what/whom I am voting for.

Even in Nu52, based on him as a reporter or in action, I still say he wouldn't vote - he acts when he needs to (save lives, save planet, yadda yadda) but every day stuff, nope

the kents had been trying to have children for a while, everyone knew that, and not long after clarks arrival winter essentially snowed the kents in for several months and gave martha the perfect excuse to stay out of sight.

winter ends, the kents show up with a baby who is a bit big for a newborn but "thems just the kent genes, when I was born my mother said I looked like a baby rhino." and if anyone asks any questions the kents just say "we didn't want to jinx it by telling everyone and martha didn't start showing until winter."

its a believable lie in rural kansas.

Batman is pretty legit outside of the TV show.
And the movies.
The movies don't want Batman to deal with organized crime and corruption, because it would take valueable screentime.
Which also reduces Raoh in Nohlan movies to a insane babbermount without any real motivation.
In most of the movies its just a place that has some crime and shitty maintenance of architecture. Not a actual cesspool of crime and corruption.

The current Gotham TV series is exploring it, which has the advantage of being Gotham without Batman.

>Iron Man
Iron Man IS actually hilarious.
To the point where his Preparation for the Secret Wars back in the day, was to backstab and steal everyones armored suits because they contained Stark Schematics. And then he stole everything that used his tech, and used all their gimmicks.
The writers loved to bring up the "Must not sell weapons" angle, but it never amounted to anything.

Also superheroes aren't so much helping the poors and the disenfranchised specifically, they're more about making society in general more secure and busting out individual "bad guys", which is somewhat closer to a right-wing mode of thinking.

It's no wonder a lot of left-leaning critics dislike the implications of the superhero genre.

In 1992 Etrigan ran against George H. W. Bush for the presidential candidacy. Bush ran for the Republican party, so it stands to reason that Etrigan was Democrat. Of course, the Democrat party showed no support for him.

Either way, Superman supported Etrigan, so he's pretty much Democrat.

Besides, Superman's entire character is dependent on him being raised by the nicest couple in the entire Farm Belt.

Republicans are in favor of limited federal government and maximum economic freedom. In addition, they tend to be associated with religious interests and big business.
Democrats are in favor of stronger federal government and social equality, although their pursuit of said equality occassionally has mixed results.
It's quite a bit more complicated than that, but that's pretty much the gist of it.

I'm not so bothered about the movies - I expect a certain amount of 'Murika' for the casuals, but its the same with the comics.

They shy away from dealing with real issues and avoid debates to avoid outrage.

I really want to see a comic from Marvel or DC that explores how society would change in the face of a large amount of metas. But they keep shying away or copping out when there is opportunities for it to come out.

Metahumans and Superpowers would probably lead to the implementation of new laws and legal systems. People often go "why doesn't Hero X just kill Villain Y," but in reality, it should be the justice system that makes that decision. And for people like Zoom, Joker, Atomic Skull etc, the legal system would change to deal with them.

There is a lot of establishment worship in cape comics. I like seeing stories where its the Heroes vs Government.

I couldn't see Superman as anything other than apolitical, or at least the kind of person who's more focused on encouraging integrity on the behalf of whoever is currently in charge. Kal seems the sort to just encourage people to do well by each-other on an inter-personal level.

Even if he did vote, he may cast his vote in with the Greens. Given his background, matters of ecological stability may be a priority.

Lex's policies were pretty based, even supes admitted that. He just didn't think lex was genuine about it.

Lex ran on a scientific policy program. Miracle technology that would allow the government to be more efficient, so the it could do more with less. So for exarmple, he replaced most of the bureaucracy with automated systems, meaning the police could spend much more time policing and less time filling in paperwork.

He also cut a load of frivolous Military contracts and used Lexcorp tech instead. Bullied US companies to bring back their industry from China and such and reopen in the US, creating jobs and such.

Here's a novel idea; both major parties offer little else than their distinct flavor of authoritarian, corporate-sponsered wings, and voting for either group under the impression that they have the common man's interest at heart is an excersize in futility. I never quite understood the conservative mantra when it came to the use of tax-dollars. It's as if the central purpose of a government (providing commonly available services to it's constituents) is completely overlooked by them. And yet for such an immense fear of supposed government overreach, how do they address the military and it's budgeting? How on God's green earth do you bleat 'tyranny' over and over, and yet shill the armed forces so hard? And that's not even approaching the militarization of the police, or the old standby of being hard-on-crime.

because you can't always trust the government to do well with your money. using tax dollar money for wars is bad, but also using it give to people who don't want to work is also bad. the government doesn't price shop either so something the private sector does for cheaper becomes more expensive, like insurance.

It's a very old political tradition to see the role of the government as being mainly about handling the army, the police, the diplomacy, and to an extent the money. We're talking Ancient RĂ©gime shit.

Plus if you're going to make concessions to the "small government" doctrine, you might as well start with the forces that are necessary for the government to even exist internationally and territorially in the first place.

Also Republicans and Democrats have different views on what constitute the public good.
