Belkin F5D6230-3 Router

I got a router Belkin F5D 6230-3 equiped with the WIFI PCMCIA card AWLAN WS8P/IEEE, as a user explained in the discussion above .
My question is: could it be possible to replace this Wifi PCMCIA Card by one supporting the 54Mb/s rate ?

If yes I'm afraid we have to update the driver which is store somewhere in the Flash or Rom, memory used by the ARM7 CPU.
Someone already did it ?
