I haven't been doing so well in the technology department lately. Everytime I turn around, something else seems to be failing. Anyway, here's what's happened so far.
Problem 1: The battery life of my little iBook laptop had gotten down to about 30 minutes (turned out that it was worse than this, but I'll get back to that).
Solution to problem 1: Bought new battery for the computer.
Problem 2: Then, when the 1.9.2 patch came out for WoW, I discovered that if you don't renew your subscription to Norton Antivirus, it essentially become malware. It caused WoW to be unable to load, a problem I associated with the WoW patch, until I updated iTunes and had a similar problem.
Solution to problem 2: Control Panel/Add/Remove software, forcible deletion of Norton. Installed McAffee (I get it free as a student at Tech) and everything went back to being in working order.
Problem 3: iPod mini decides that it wants to commit suicide, so it jumps out of my pocket onto a hard floor. Stops working a couple of minutes later.
no solution yet
Problem 4: So, I'm running around apple.com/support/ipod trying to find a way to fix my little suicidal iPod when a window pops up to tell me that a fatal error has occured (on the computer, not the iPod). Well shit. I go in Disk Utility, it tells me that the Hard Drive shouldn't be working, get all my info off, and replace it.
Solution to problem 4: Took it too my Apple Store, they said there wasn't any way around it, and that they were amazed it was still even functioning. So it's currently in the shop (to a tune of close to $300).
I'm taking the iPod to the Apple Store next week, and it's still under warranty, so we'll see if they can't find a way to fix it. If they can't, they have this sweet little deal where I can get a 10% discount on the purchase of a new iPod if I trade in my old one (working or not). But that's my whole quest with technology lately.
