Status Effects
« on: November 25, 2005, 01:35:29 am »
This is a subject that many have wondered upon, and one that's not very well-defined.

So, what are all the available status effects, what do they do, for how long, etc.?

I'm pretty sure the GM has control of what status effects do...

But we still need to know what types there are, don't you agree?

It's entirely GM description, nothing set but here are some standard ones that just about every RPG game uses if you want examples of what a status ailment would be like.

Poison - slowly deals you damage
Sleep - possible to wake up from being attacked
Parlayze - incapable of movement but can still talk
Burn - Wounds cause suffering
Weaken - Your strength leaves you
Blind - incapable of seeing clearly or at all
Confusion/Drunk - hard to determine surroundings
Glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever.

Burn - Wounds cause suffering
Weaken - Your strength leaves you
Blind - incapable of seeing clearly or at all
Confusion/Drunk - hard to determine surroundings
So...
Burn: Whenever you perform any sort of action besides talking, roll for burn damage
Weaken: Reduced basic attack roll? Half damage dealt? Unable to use specials? AP/DP Penalty?
Blind: Accuracy check whenever you try an action that requires sight
Confusion: Actions go to a random person on the battlefield, instead of the target intended?

The rest seem self-explanitory...

Also...from a couple games...the first one you probably know which one, but the second, is taken from two games. Can you guess which two?
Freeze - Trapped in ice. Cannot act, but physical damage taken is reduced. Unfreeze with a fire attack or 3 other attacks.
Petrify - Body turns to stone. In some cases, cannot act, and damage taken is increased, recover on diceroll. Other cases, instant death. (GM determines which case)

it should be perfectly understood that each effect is pretty self-explanatory, that yes, poison hurts you, OMG BLOWS YOUR MIND!

But I'm leaving it at GM discretition due to that that the poison could be overwhelming potent or just nauseating in your stomach, thus damage and turn lastings will vary depending on the sitatation for each effect.  And note tere are probably too many effects to list.
